How We Met

We met at Grace Community Church in Goshen. We were both adult helpers with the senior high youth group and got to know each other through serving together and being in the Pursuit young adult group. After youth group one night, Ryan got the courage to ask Emily on their first date.

Our Engagement Story

Ryan planned a fun-filled day of activities. We picked out, cut down, and decorated a live Christmas tree together. Then, Ryan took Emily on a scavenger hunt to places of significance in our relationship. There were poems and ornaments at each destination to guide the way. That evening, we went to dinner at The Vine. Afterwards, we walked to the City Center Park Christmas tree where there were candles guiding a path to a stocking hanging on the tree. In the stocking was one last poem which Ryan read to Emily. Then, he proposed on one knee under the stars. Emily said yes!

About the Ring

Ryan did an amazing job picking out a beautiful ring customized just for Emily. It is the perfect balance of beauty and elegance.

Our First Date

On our first date, we went to dinner, went to the Chief for ice cream, and then walked along the Mill Race in Goshen. We had a great time getting to know each other more.

Our Favorite Date Night

It doesn't really matter where we go, as long as we get to have fun quality time together. We enjoy going on fun new dates to places we haven't been before such as Emily's first Notre Dame football game and Ryan's first time water skiing. We also enjoy simple walks in the park.

Our Shared Interests

We both enjoy serving together at church, bike riding, spending time outdoors, hanging out with our friends, and spending summer afternoons on the lake.

Our Relationship in Three Words

Learning and Loving in Christ

The Part of the Wedding We're Most Excited About

Being able to celebrate our marriage and new life together with friends and family who have helped shape us into the people we are today. These are people who have invested in us as Christ-like examples.

Additional Details

We'd like to thank all of our family and friends who have encouraged us and provided guidance during the ups and downs of dating. We have learned much and been blessed.
